The Twinsburg City School District is celebrating an incredible achievement as two of its youngest mathematicians have been selected as National Math Stars!

Elvin Shakya, a fourth-grade student at George G. Dodge Intermediate School, and Aryamaan Chadha, a third-grade student at Samuel Bissell Elementary School, were chosen from a highly competitive national pool of nearly 9,000 applicants. Both students demonstrated exceptional mathematical aptitude, placing them among the top young mathematicians in the country.

Their selection follows a rigorous, multi-stage evaluation focused not only on mathematical ability, but also on each student's curiosity and eagerness to explore STEM subjects more deeply. Their accomplishments are especially noteworthy because only 22 students from across the state of Ohio were selected for the program.

Twinsburg Gifted Coordinator Shelly Grady, who nominated both students, is thrilled to see two Twinsburg students earn this national distinction.

“I am so excited that Twinsburg City Schools had two students selected,” Grady shared. “Only 22 students across the entire state of Ohio were chosen, making this a tremendous accomplishment for Elvin and Aryamaan and a wonderful point of pride for our district.”

A Decade of Opportunity

Being named a National Math Star is just the beginning. Through high school graduation, Elvin and Aryamaan will have access to a variety of resources and opportunities designed to support their continued growth in mathematics and STEM.

Over the next 10 years, the program will provide expert mentorship, funding for advanced math coursework, STEM enrichment materials, and invitations to math competitions and specialized summer camps.

For Elvin, the opportunity is an exciting step toward a bright future. In addition to his love of math, Elvin enjoys playing soccer and chess. His advice to other students who want to succeed in math is simple:

“Just always try your best and keep practicing.”

Aryamaan also enjoys staying active and challenging his mind. When he's not playing outside or enjoying soccer and chess, math is his favorite subject, with multiplication ranking among his favorite things to learn. His message to his friends is equally encouraging: “Try your best!”

The Twinsburg City School District could not be prouder of Elvin and Aryamaan. Their achievement is a wonderful example of what can happen when curiosity, dedication, perseverance, and a love of learning come together.
